Services

Here at Apex, we offer a variety of treatment approaches that work in conjunction with one another to provide you with improved range of motion, strength, and coordination, which ultimately translates into reduced pain and improved movement.

Chiropractic Adjustments

The ability of a joint and its surrounding structures to move properly can play a role in creating pain or dysfunction. A chiropractic adjustment is essentially a quick thrust that is applied to a joint in order to restore normal range of motion.

Soft Tissue Manipulation

Muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia are often affected by injury, and are frequently the source of pain or dysfunction. Soft tissue manipulation is used to reduce muscle tension, improve range of motion, and decrease pain in these areas.

Corrective Exercise

Our bodies are designed to avoid experiencing pain. This protective mechanism can often affect how we move, even after pain has subsided. Corrective exercise is used to help re-establish proper movement and reduce incidence of future injury.

Rehabilitative Exercise

In many cases, injury to muscles, tendons, or joints can not be remedied with soft tissue manipulation or chiropractic alone. Rehabilitative exercise is used to help strengthen and remodel certain injured tissues, helping them meet the load demands of your activities.

Blood Flow Restriction

BFR involves the use of a special cuff around your arm or leg to gently limit blood flow out of the muscle. This creates a low-oxygen environment that allows you to use lighter weights but still get benefits similar to lifting heavy, making it perfect for people recovering from injury, older adults, or anyone wanting to reduce stress on their joints while staying strong.

Concussion Management

Ensure a safe and effective return to activity with comprehensive concussion evaluation and management. CLICK HERE for more information.

Force Testing Dynomometry

Dynamometry is a way to measure how strong your muscles are and how  much force your joints and tendons can tolerate using a machine called a dynamometer. It helps provide clear and objective strength goals, allowing you to track progress over time.

Concussion Evaluation and management

Whether you've recently sustained a concussion, are dealing with lingering symptoms, or want to ensure a safe and effective return to activity, a comprehensive concussion evaluation is the essential first step. No two concussions are the same. Each one presents with a unique combination of symptoms across multiple domains, including headache, vestibular, ocular-motor, cognitive, mood, cervical spine changes, physiologic changes, and sleep changes.

Evaluation

At Apex, we use thorough, evidence-based testing to classify your concussion into its specific clinical profile so your recovery plan is built around you. Our evaluation process centers on two gold-standard testing platforms:

SCOAT6 (Sport Concussion Office Assessment Tool 6)

A comprehensive, multidomain assessment recommended by the international Concussion in Sport Group. The SCOAT6 evaluates symptoms, cognition, vestibular-ocular function, balance, autonomic function, and more to identify the specific areas affected by your concussion.

Buffalo Concussion Treadmill Test

The reference-standard graded exercise test used to assess your body's tolerance for physical exertion. This test identifies the precise heart rate threshold at which symptoms are provoked, allowing us to prescribe a safe, individualized aerobic exercise program tailored to your recovery.

Management

Depending on your presentation, we may also incorporate additional case-specific outcome measures to ensure nothing is missed. Research consistently shows that prolonged rest beyond the first couple of days after a concussion can actually slow recovery. An active, individualized approach including early, controlled aerobic exercise has been shown to speed recovery and reduce the risk of prolonged symptoms. That's exactly the approach we take at Apex.

Concussions can affect far more than just physical function, so the best outcomes for concussion recovery come from a coordinated, multi-modal approach. When our evaluation identifies needs that extend beyond our scope, we connect you with the right practitioners to ensure every aspect of your recovery is covered. Research consistently shows that this kind of collaborative, interdisciplinary approach leads to better outcomes and faster recovery, especially for patients with persistent symptoms.

At Apex, we work with patients across all ages and activity levels, from youth athletes to weekend warriors to active professionals. No matter your situation, you will receive a clear understanding of your concussion profile and a straightforward plan to guide your recovery.

Evaluation Cost: $180 (can also be billed to insurance)

Duration: 1.5 hours

What To Bring: Comfortable athletic clothing and footwear suitable for treadmill walking/running.
